i thought you meant Mussolini, never mind.

Mussolini?  Il Duce means "leader" as apart from the rank of nobility, duke (duca in Italian).  The two words are derived from the same Latin root dux, military leader from ducere (to lead), as is the English word duke and the older Venetian title Doge
