. But I regret to say, that it is tuned
in equal temperature (and a=415).

I got it from Christopher Wolff, but now that I look more carefully what they say is “apparently modified meantone.”

Maybe he thought of the original tuning (which BTW is unknown), but to day the organ is equally tuned.

I sure hope this indicates that Schiff does a full HIP Schubert cycle - something I never thought I'd want.

I may have to buy this if for no other reason than to hear how the ensemble played DSCH.

This looks interesting. He is not recorded all that often.

There are about half a dozen recordings of the sonata and maybe two or three recordings of each of his symphonic pieces. I've started to listen to the recording and will comment sometime soon.

How is that one any different from this one that I've had for years?

By being in one of those super cheap Sony boxes with minimal/no liner notes, presumably.

it certainly is; if you look up closely (I don't have the photos around that I made at the time) you can see the additions that have been soldered to every pipe.

Looks interesting. I don't think I've come across the Octava Ensemble. There's a review of a disc which I assume includes a part of this set here:

http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2010/Feb10/Pekiel;_DUX0727.htm

Not exactly an unqualified thumbs-up, but still, we're hardly spoiled for choice with obscure composers like Pekiel, so this complete set may be worth investigating.

Edit - samples here:

https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/bartlomiej-pekiel-opera-omnia/hnum/8732652

Sounds mostly fine to me. To be fair, the samples of the mass which is also on the disc reviewed in the above link didn't sound quite as good as the rest, so maybe that disc is not very representative of the complete set.

I have some friends who really love it, for me the music is a bit too baroque.

How can music be too baroque?  :-X
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Have you heard much of this set, or other recordings of the same music? Most of the samples on JPC sounded as much late Renaissance as early Baroque to me.
