1st Symphony has the disc for itself and 5th disc has Finlandia, Valse, Night Ride, Swan and En Saga

Yes.  The excellent Blomstedt/San Francisco cycle, for instance, on four discs has the Valse triste and Tapiola as well as the seven symphonies.

They're both beautiful pieces;  there's no reason this needed to be five rather than four discs, is all.  Poor planning (or something).

And since I have three Sibelius cycles, and am not in the market for a fourth, price is no object  :-)

Well, that's better, Milos.  I don't know why neither Night Ride nor En Saga made the cover, though

My booty for today...

Amazon has this for $30 off now, so I couldn't resist any longer:

I caught Respighi's Toccata for piano and orchestra the other day on the radio, so I was fascinated enough to continue my ongoing exploration of non-Pines respighi with these two:

You'll notice that it is often helpful to have a German or French or etc to English dictionary on hand in order to decipher some gentleman's posts around here.

Comprende?  ;D

Very nice, which wasn't something often said about Schippers with the NYPO.

Bunny - looking forward to your comments on the Kraus Chamber works - just have him so far in Symphonies & Piano pieces - would be quite interested in this part of his compositions - Dave  :)
