Procedural question: how are sets of works to be nominated.  For instance, the Chopin Nocturnes--can I nominate them as one item, nominate each one separately or nominate as one item whatever were published under the same opus numbers (for instance, the Op. 55 Nocturnes).

Also, perhaps we need a higher limit than 100 for this thread, especially if we're nominating each individual item one by one?

Fast track choice reserved

Liszt: Sonata in b minor +3
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 29 in B flat major, Op. 106 "Hammerklavier" +2
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109 +1

03 Beethoven: Piano Sonata № 32 in C minor, op.111
03 Liszt: Sonata in b minor
02 Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 29 in B flat major, Op. 106 "Hammerklavier"
02 Beethoven: Piano Sonata № 31 in A flat major, op.110
01 Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109
01 Schumann: Fantasie in C, op.17
Every kind of music is good, except the boring kind.

I think it's best to proceed with opus numbers in general; however, when e.g. two sonatas are published under the same opus number, the works will be listed individually. Other exceptions on a per case basis may be made, provided the works in question constitute an  - intended by the composer or being performed as such in practice -  set.

The limit will be higher; between them, Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, for instance, can easily occupy 50 or more spots. I think 150 is a good number without getting us too far into pianistic terra arcana.

Question: Are works for keyboard but not written specifically for piano permitted?  Such as the Goldbergs? If so, and we get a fast track, that would be my choice.

Yes, they are. Your fast-track is the first work on The List!

My nomination for fast track is Fanny Hensel: Das Jahr
This is a brilliantly original work but I can't see anyone else voting for it.
