Yes, but can they meddle so a non-mod can take over the updating?

You may have to be given mod-like powers, in that case, probably only by The Master. That doesn't come easily, you know.

I consider that the mods do not so much meddle, as assist, but call that a refinement ; )

The appropriate Scarlatti thread is now in the index.

This is a question mostly for the Lord High Dungeon Master and the moderators?

Pending Sara's return, is it (in the technical sense of what the forum software allows) possible for someone else to take over the duty of keeping the Index updated?  Or would it require a re-reboot of the entire thread, as it were?

Unfortunately when a thread is started, only the original author, any of the five moderators, or Rob (a.k.a. DungeonMaster) can modify it. Given that Sara's return is uncertain, if someone else would like to volunteer to maintain it, he/she could start a new thread (cutting and pasting the existing information).

However, that said, in the short term I'm pretty sure any of the mods would be glad to make occasional updates, since they're easy to do.

A new thread made by an active member based on the old content would be good. I'd suggest placeholdering the first 4 replies in the new one, just in case (I was running desperately low on space in my first one). If you want to do any fancy formatting, like colours, or emboldened surnames, etc - that will affect the character limit even more.

I'm so sad that Ferenc Erkel doesn't have a thread. He was the greatest Hungarian opera composer before Bartók. He created the Hungarian opera style and he composed the anthem.

Here's a couple of links that aren't in the index yet:

Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713)
Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643)

Schütz isn't as well. Is there even a thread for him? Can't find it.

Will she get a thread? Or Croatians as a group?

Latest on Forbes.com:

Classical CD Of The Week: Croatian Romantic Discovery

Dora Pejačević, Piano Concerto, Orchestral Songs, Overture op.49, Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt/Oder, Howard Griffith (conductor), cpo

...There are those who might wish to make a point of Dora Pejačevič being a composer of the female persuasion, but I would consider that possibly sexist; certainly faux-feminist posturing. She’s simply a good composer from a time where few women ardently pursued that kind of career. The music deserves credit on account of its beauty, not on account of Pejačevič’s chromosome-makeup....

Braunfels has a thread, as he should, but I don't think it's listed, FYI:
