Sister site - Shostakovich.org
« on: December 05, 2011, 02:24:41 AM »
Its a very long story but I now own the domain and website www.shostakovich.org

It has a skeletal content at the moment, but I have dreams of making it the definitive Shostakovich website.

I am looking for people who have the knowledge, interest and dedication to help me build it.

Anyone?

cheers
Rob

My knowledge is sparse on the subject of classical music, but I am sure many are here to help you with it. Congrats! :)

Wow, Rob, congratulations! An ambitious project, but one that Shostakovich fans (like me) would definitely appreciate.

Do you have technical background? Do you have a web hoster and what are your plans technically (plain html, dynamic, what language, database etc...) and from the contents? Currently the biggest shostakovich.org is probably Wikipedia (the web site with the ugly and annoying beggars on top :)).

EDIT: Uh-oh, you already have some content on your website, I'll have a look...

As for the recommendations, you can maybe make some more (because typically it often comes down to a few recordings), for instance, Sym. No. 11 you recommend Stokovski/Houston (I hate the recording because of completely fucked up dynamics compression), but also many recommend Haitink/Concertgebouw and AFAIR Mravninsky. Also the 10th: Many like the Karajan reading and so do I.
