Beautiful instrument. It's the first thing that strikes you !!
Years ago I fell in love with Moroney's Kunst der Fuge, with the last Contrapunctus completed by him.
Some agogic oddities (IMHO) , easily metabolized the second time you listen the disc.  Happiness !
.

Yes, easily. I never heard an issue there.

Wiren: Triptych [Wedin]....

I really like this work with its conversational musical language and its orchestral scoring.

I listened to the BAT playing Mendelssohn this morning.  Not typical listening for me, but I enjoyed it.  Those trios were the first tracks in this box:

Nope, sorry.   :)

Not a big Savall myself, and I've shied away from him tackling English repertoire after trying his Purcell - out of character IMO.

But the Naxos set is very good. Daniel Taylor's contribution is worth the pricd of admission alone.

Not yet, but I will!  :)

Beethoven, The Ruins of Athens

First listen underway now. The texts appear to be a little less embarrassingly dated than for King Stephen.

Lepo Sumera. The only time I saw him live, was in the Summer of 1995. In Tallinn, I saw him dancing leisurely - literally so - in the Kloostri Ait, with a band playing folk music. Our company was small, but I saw no reason to talk with him - though I knew his symphonies already - and so I didn't. Five years later I read the news of his untimely death.
… music is not only an `entertainment’, nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948
