Rogister’s symphony for string quartet and orchestra is hard to find, let alone at a decent price. I tried my luck directly with Musique en Wallonie. They accepted my 16€ payment but they yet have to tell me how much they charge for delivery. I’m crossing my fingers.

Hooray ! I was offered free shipping !  ;D

After profusely thanking them, I mentioned that a lot of their catalogue’s titles are currently unavailable. For shame ! Such yummy works...

The spoils of a visit to Disco 100 ( one of the best stocked remaining B&M record shops in Europe AFAIK) during a business trip to Barcelona today:

Except for Argenta’s classic recording of E. Halffter’s Sinfonietta, it’s all Italian stuff, with an operatic bias. Several items (notably, the Malipiero SQs, Ponchielli’s I lituani—which I had been chasing for quite a while—, Rossini’s Maometto II) are long OOP and I had only seen them on offer at extortionate prices on the web...

Good day to you, Rafael! I hope you enjoy those Malipiero SQs as much as I have. I should revisit them actually.

Thread duty:

An extremely rare recording (on CD --- LP is much, much easier to come by). I was absolutely enchanted by what I heard on YouTube. Plus, Paul Jacobs is on it! 8)

And good day to you too, John! That is one superb disc you got there...but, me being a fervent ‘Jacobite’, you would not have expected me to think otherwise, would you?  ;) And Jan DeGaetani (another great artist) is wonderful in the Chansons madécasses...

Indeed. I paid a pretty penny for this one, but I have a feeling it’s going to be worth every single one of those pennies. ;) I’ve become quite the fervent ‘Jacobite’, too, as you know. 8) And yes, I knew you to had to know this disc. It’s got you written all over it. :D Kalish is an excellent pianist, too and, as you know, has accompanied Ms. DeGaetani in many vocal recitals. Now, if only Nonesuch would reissue the Debussy/Ravel mélodies recording she made with Kalish.

Sorry for the poor image quality --- it’s the only one I could find.

Thanks, Rafael! I’ve seen that recording, but I wasn’t sure whether it was this older Nonesuch release. Looks like it was licensed from Arabesque Recordings. 8)

I couldn’t access the site all last night, but here’s what I bought during that time:

This is a firm favourite.
I am now working on a discography of the works of Vagn Holmboe. Please visit and also contribute!

Good to hear. I’ve read the Finley/Drake recording on Hyperion is fantastic as well.
