There was this thing on tv from 1987 of 10 arias set to weird scenes, it was creepy. Has nyone seen it? For example to an aria from turandot there was a girl being operated on, and she was dreaming she was being covered in jewels. What garbage IMO why do they do that.

I saw it when it was first issued. I cannot recall the name of it. The idea was to tie the music to the modern world and see what resonances emerged. I recall very little about it, but thought it was an interesting concept. I think each section was directed by a different person with some pretty well known directors. Some sections were quite successful whilst others were a decided miss.

Yes, there were 10 directors and 10 arias. I started watching it during a Rameau(i dunno how to spell his name) aria. It was in a theater full of crazy people. The 2nd was was wagner, but I didnt pay much attention, and third I saw was puccini the jewel thing. Its simply called aria.

Here is a review of the film, 20 years passes rather quickly, I would have thought it was less time since I saw it, but I know I saw it in its initial release.

Here is what another critic said, mind you, clearly as he is so clueless about music, his opinion is not worth reading other than for the inadvertant amusement.

"All of these scenarios I guess are like some sort of “picture slides” or whatever, but if that was the intention, it certainly fails miserably. First of all, what the hell was it with all the nudity involved? Were they originally going to do a high-art porn movie or what? Most of the sexual innuendo doesn't amount to horseshit, and it’s as pointless as the segments themselves. Not only are all these segments incredibly unfocused and pretentious since they’re devoid of any meaning whatsoever (try making any sense out of them; believe me, you can’t), but the arias they chose have to be some of the worst pieces of music I’ve ever listened to. They’re utterly dreadful and cringe-inducing pieces of shit, they sound more like the outtakes of each respective artist than actual good music."

HA!

Dude its boobs, do you have to question it? Whats the point of having nudity in any movie? Who cares, its boobs! It doesn't matter how pointless it is.
