This is just for you!!! (Did you ever hear the saying "Clean up your own yard first before bothering about your neighbors'?)

https://www.aljazeera.com/blogs/asia/2017/08/australia-detention-centres-nauru-manus-island-open-170813142449181.html

The government has taken extreme measures to maintain secrecy about what goes on inside these offshore hellholes.
In July 2015, while we were still filming, the Australian Border Force Act came into effect.

Hidden away in the Act is legislation which states that any government employee or anyone employed by an agency working on Manus or Nauru risks going to prison for up to two years if they disclose anything to the public about what they have seen there.

It means that if a social worker on Nauru discusses the abuses that have occurred there, he or she runs the risk of going to prison.

We know from Chasing Asylum about the murders, the deaths caused by inadequate medical attention, the rapes, the beatings, the suicides, the illnesses, and the record levels of self-harm that hang thickly in the air, dominating these places.

Firstly: I'm not Australian so it's not my "yard".

Secondly; the NZ PM has offered to provide asylum for many and been turned down

Thirdly: you don't know how I've spoken out about this elsewhere or to what extent

Fourthly: this is just another whataboutism avoidance technique. Please address the topic under discussion.

The topic under discussion is bashing Trump for a policy started by Bush Jr. and continued under Obama.
The number of separated children has been halved under Trump.
Many of the children are not accompanied by parents or even relatives.
There is rather a strong indication many of the escorts are involved in child trafficking.
Saving them from such fates is actually doing them a favor.
Still, the PARENTS are entirely to blame when they drag their kids illegally through a burning desert.
The conditions for the children as already cited are not bad. Some kids go to charitable institutions.
Also, it should be noted that US taxpayers have to foot the bill for putting them up, feeding them, processing these people, etc.,  who know they are breaking the law but are trying to get away with it.
Is Mexico so tolerant with illegal crossers?
Does Mexico give them free room and board?
Food for thought.

[Delusional BS snipped...]
Some kids go to charitable institutions.

I don't care if you are putting them up at the Ritz Carlton, it's still monstrous to rip children from their families.  (I stole this from Seth Myers, who does a better job expressing it.)

US taxpayer here.  I have no problem paying taxes for humane treatment of families and children at the border.  I have a huge problem with children being ripped from their parents in the name of my "security".

You don't get it. The PARENTS are ENTIRELY to BLAME.
But there is no need to discuss this burther since Trump signed a declaration overturning Bush and Obama's policies.

These are refugees fleeing violence and threats of death.  Your moral obtuseness is noted.

No, all he did was buy a few weeks at most since by law children can only be detained with their families for up to 20 days.

Trumps former lawyer has weighed in:

"As the son of a Polish holocaust survivor, the images and sounds of this family separation policy is heart wrenching,” Cohen wrote. “While I strongly support measures that will secure our porous borders, children should never be used as bargaining chips."

Oh really? Isn't it weird that a whopping percentage of the illegals bring violence and death with them?
How about "children" aged from say about 15-30?
Your own obtuseness has been noted.
Somehow I get the impression that you belong to the "Not in My Neighborhood Club" like most of the Hollywood virtue signalers and whiners. They live in mansions surrounded by high walls and the state of the art security.

Can't laugh for crying!

Go ahead and cry like Rachel Maddow who actually mocked Glenn Beck for sending tractor-trailers full of food, water, teddy bears and soccer balls to McAllen, Texas on July 19 as a way to help care for some of the roughly 60,000 underage refugees who have crossed into America illegally in 2014. Beck was joined by Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah), Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), and a number of pastors and rabbis.

The topic under discussion is bashing Trump for a policy started by Bush Jr. and continued under Obama.
Yes, but Trump is the president at the moment and has the political power to do something about it. Why did he employ the zero tolerance policy 2 months ago that lead to this situation? Instead he could have dismandled the inhuman policies of Bush Jr. and Obama as he is destroying the legacy of Obama anyway.

The number of separated children has been halved under Trump.
What does this mean? Obama separated 2*2300=4600 children every 2 months?

Many of the children are not accompanied by parents or even relatives.
Oh, that makes it much better for them living inside those cages.  ::)

There is rather a strong indication many of the escorts are involved in child trafficking.
How about going after those child traffickers instead of families and children? Zero tolerance for trafficking. I'm sure most people would be fine with that.

Saving them from such fates is actually doing them a favor.
Lesser of two evils you mean?

Still, the PARENTS are entirely to blame when they drag their kids illegally through a burning desert.
And why do the parents do that? Because it's very dangerous living where they are. They try to find a safe place for their kids. What are they supposed to do? Are they to blame for the fact that the US government is more interested of xenophobia and punishing than human rights and decency?

The conditions for the children as already cited are not bad. Some kids go to charitable institutions.
Would you put your own children in those conditions? I hope you wouldn't. No children should be in such conditions.

Also, it should be noted that US taxpayers have to foot the bill for putting them up, feeding them, processing these people, etc.,  who know they are breaking the law but are trying to get away with it.
Well, you could let those people enter the US freely. Chance the law. Also, humanity and decency costs often money. What are your priorities? Do you want to bomb Syria (costs A LOT) or help children coming from dangerous violent countries? The wars your country has fought in the Middle-East have cost TRILLIONS of dollars. That's millions of millions of dollars. What do you have to show for these wars? Oh, military industry has got much richer for sure. Many millionaires and bilionaires there, but feeding children fleeing violence is a burden for you? Why feed these young criminals?  ::)

Going backwards, Europe and Britain are largely responsible for the mess in the Middle east. Please read source material and then get back to me.
As for the rest of your lengthy refutation or whatever that was, this says everything:

1. You don't get it yourself. These parents are being made scape goats for the problems in your country.
2. Trump ended the most hidious fasist results of his zero tolerance policy. Bush and Obama are to blame for giving Trump the possibility to have such policy in the first place.

Yes, Europe and Britain are to blame too, but your country still has spent trillions on these wars. Just imagine what you could with only 1 % of all that money?

I'm not surprised my "lengthy refutation" causes you headache. So  much cognitive dissonance for your mind with all the humanity.  :P
