Is this just the result of ticking every Republican box on the list or did they knowingly vote for the pimp who died partying with a porno star (read: traditional Christian family values)?

Not that the first option excuses it.

Apparently the Republicans also elected two indicted felons and a nazi. I haven't yet established from their ranks exactly which two felons and which nazi these are.

The Nazi is probably Steve King of Iowa—also the only Republican remaining in Iowa's congressional delegation after his two non-Nazi colleagues were de-elected. And one of the indicted felons is probably Chris Collins of upstate New York, my home state, well known for its absolute lack of corrupt elected officials.

Voters knew that a republican would be chosen to replace him by county officials. An unnamed republican was preferred to a known Democrat.

The other Congressman under indictment is Duncan Hunter of California.

The GOP is truly the party of Trump.

I can't stand Ellison and don't understand why the DFL couldn't come up with someone better.

[...] What is not, in all likelihood, going to be possible is to impeach and remove Trump. The Senate will remain in GOP hands, making removal (requiring a two-thirds majority) almost inconceivable. Impeaching without removing Trump undoubtedly would fire up his cult and provide weird vindication. Better to investigate, embarrass and — after he leaves office — prosecute him for any crimes (e.g. obstruction of justice) taken in office.

Despite fantasies, nothing less than evidence so incontrovertible that even the Trumpiest of Trumpniks would admit his guilt would result in a successful impeachment. And Trumpniks being Trumpniks, no such evidence will ever be uncovered.  And GOP politicians have spent the last 2 years showing us that Fear of Trumpniks is their dominating motive.

It should also be remembered that the failure of the impeachment effort against Clinton benefited him and at least temporarily hobbled his opponents.

What makes you sure such evidence has not already been uncovered? You don't know what Mueller has. Nor does anyone else. Without that knowledge speculation about grounds for impeachment and who might back it is premature.

Aye.  My sense is that your analysis and Rubin's harmonize neatly.

I think Jeffrey's point there is that, with the GOP "policing" themselves/President Toadstool, all the "evidence" will "exonerate" him, oh, but look at that caravan of migrants a thousand miles away!

Looks like the blue wave was ankle deep.  Maybe mid-shin.  At any rate, barring the existence of video of the President and Putin hatching nefarious schemes, Donaldus Magnus will remain in his position until at least January 2021.  The same may not be true for the Notorious RBG.  Thanks to the departure of Sessions, the country now has an acting AG who has publicly questioned Marbury.  And that's on top of his various shenanigans from years past.  Oh yeah!

January cannot get here fast enough.  The endless investigations and hearings and showboating and grandstanding by House Dems must start post-haste!

I'm tired of this "blue wave was small" talk. That's what you get when democracy doesn't work. Democrats need more votes than Republicans for the same amount of seats thanks to all gerrymandering and other shit. How difficult is it to have honest elections? They have more democratic elections in Africa, JESUS CHRIST. About half off media coverage is right-leaning, about 40 % "neutral" and 10 % left-leaning, of which almost all is "fake" left-leaning corporate propaganda. How often does the media bring up Bernie Sanders or other true left-wingers in positive light? Most of the time they just ignore the left. In case of Ocasio-Cortez they HAD TO cover her after her victory, but of course mostly negatively. Constant corporate/evangelical brainwashing 24/7 + gerrymandering, smearing of the left, big money donations, voter purges etc. and then people wonder why the Democrats barely win the house back? If the media did it's work properly and there was a amendment to remove money on politics the Republicans would be smaller than the green party!

Doesn't matter. The elections aren't honest and that's what counts.

It is most amusing how people with supposedly potent intellects (even people who supposedly earned PhDs) rely on using the word 'troll'.  How do they do it?

I think this is the most ignorant statement I have read on this forum regarding US politics.  At the very least, it's in the running.
