Of course the truth is a very desirable thing, but people tend to be more or less dishonest intellectually and yes, I include myself. I agree with you, Trump's mean tweets are not the kind of problem some people made them to be. Whether he gets the job done or not is what counts in the end. Now are you ready to accept the truth about that?

The problem with truth or the lack of it, is the further we are out of whack with reality, the more we get knocked about. The more aligned with reality, as unpleasant as it might be at first like bitter medicine, will actually give us contol over what allegedly happens to us.

As for Donald's tweets, I don't know or care if they are mean or not. I don't have Twitter but it seems he wrote a complimentary message about Roger Stone. The US is in a hopeless economic mess with a humongous debt that is really unfair for future generations to have to pay for. As a businessman who must be concerned about the bottom line or else, Trump is more qualified to put things straight than career politicians. You need to be hard-nosed to confront a country like China on issues such as tariffs. I mean, what would Hillary C know about things like that?

Your post is hilarious! Donald Trump was never a successful businessman, he just played one on TV. Every dollar he ever acquired was the result, directly or indirectly, of a crime. His operating capital of over 400 million, from daddy, was the proceeds of tax fraud and evasion by his father. Any money he extracted from owning casinos was the result of money laundering (over 100 counts in NJ in one year), fraudulently inducing suckers to invest in them or cheating his contractors before the casinos went bankrupt. All of his side businesses went bust. Even some of his blatant grifts lost money: Trump University: Had to pay a $25 million judgment to reimburse its victims. The Trump Foundation, an alleged charity from which he skimmed money, self-dealt and paid other judgments against himself, is under criminal investigation. Most of the recent money he has taken in has been for laundering money for the Russian mob, corrupt "political" figures, and drug cartels. Trump is a toilet for wealth. Any idiot who had just invested the dirty money he inherited in an index fund would be richer than Trump is now. He is and has always been fiscally incompetent. His attitude about the national debt is the same as about the environment: He's not going to be around to suffer the consequences so he doesn't give a flying fick.

It's not just that Trump doesn't care about the national debt, he's actively making the problem worse.  He's spending money like a drunken sailor at the same time he's passing tax cuts for billionaires.

Trump's reckless fiscal stimulus is probably the main reason why the Fed feels it's necessary to tighten interest rates.

Moreover, he's somehow encouraged (most of) the GOP to stop caring about the deficit/debt.  What in the world does the GOP stand for these days?  TV ratings?  Spite?

As for Trump being tough on China, that's a joke.  He doesn't understand the first thing about how China managed to obtain a large trade surplus.  His tariffs will do absolutely nothing to solve the problem.  The only impact it has and will have is an increase in the US dollar to offset the impact of the tariffs.

There's no polite way to say this: Trump – and apparently Trump's supporters – are complete idiots when it comes to economic matters.  Either that, or they just don't give a s#&t.

Yes, the trick is to run up deficits with big tax cuts and handouts for your donors and then wring your hands about how we now have no choice but to cut "entitlements" to reduce these terrible deficits.

Trump picks former Fox News host Heather Nauert as next UN ambassador

"Nauert has spread conspiracy theories about Benghazi and suggested a swim class for Muslim girls was “sharia law” [...] "As State Department spokeswoman, Nauert caught flak for declaring that the D-Day invasion was an example of the United States’ “strong relationship” with Germany."

Fox News attack dog Tucker Carlson turns on Trump: 'I don't think he's capable'

Of course whatever Carlson says is Holy Writ. It's a bit disingenuous to stop at "incapable" without "of what?"

The Guardian (of what?) also pontificates: Carlson has made the odd critical remark about the president in the past, but by and large when he thought Trump wasn’t going far enough to the right.

Indeed, one can infer that from the following:
“His chief promises were that he would build the wall, defund planned parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” Carlson said.

Sure Trump did not count on the RINO's with regard to the wall and Obamacare, or the massive pushback from PP, a multi-billion dollar loathsome business that should NOT be funded by taxpayers, not by anyone with conscience, at least.  Not building a wall on the southern border has proven to invite more trouble and expense meanwhile.

"I don’t think he understands the system. I don’t think the Congress is on his side. I don’t think his own agencies support him.”

Sure, he is an outsider to the gang, but also an advantage, the reason he was elected.

This juggernaut is exactly how politics degenerated into, the reason that NOTHING of importance gets done since politicians are so busy with payback to their donors. Trump got rid of quite a few of those parasitical lobbies.

"Sure Trump did not count on..."
I also love how the the best and greatest people he chose turn out to be dummies by his own admission. Re: Tucker: even a broken watch is right twice a day. Incapable of what? Well, with Carlson taking time out from the busy war on xmas, I guess the writing must be on the wall.

Politicians being busy is not the problem.
You need to hurt other people to serve your donors.
I haven't heard Trump getting rid of any lobbies, but then again I am not a Fox News junkie...  ::)

Trump isn't a real businessman. Running profitable business legally has been most challenging for him. He is a con artist and as such was able to take advantage of the following things and become the president:

- Half of Americans are surprisingly ignorant/dumb
- Americans are fed up with oliharchy/corporatism and are willing to vote for anyone for a change
- Hillary Clinton didn't have a clue how to run. People wanted Bernie, not an "entitled" corporate
- Electorate voting system makes it possible to win with less than 50 % of the popular votes

Trump's tariffs have been reckless. He doesn't care about the consequencies and I'm sure doesn't even understand them.

Trump knows how to play hardball: Huawei arrest: China demands Canada free Meng Wanzhou.

Canada finds itself unwillingly in the middle of the feuds of the US and China.  ::)

Where do we find these ugly Americans that always want to say mean things about foreigners?

Bullies say stuff like that to compensate the feeling of inferiority. Canada does a lot of things better than the US. Better healthcare system, much lower drug prices* and much less gun violence to mention a few. No wonder a lot of Americans have been fleeing up north to Canada for better life recently.

I will make this simple for simpletons.  The US is a great power.  Canada is not a great power.  Canada is economically dependent on the US.  Canadians will buckle under pressure from the US.  Moralistic puffery and appeals to irrelevant factoids about drug prices and so forth do not change the dynamics of power politics.
