Pentangle: Finale

Live album stitched together from their 2008 farewell tour. They're older and a bit rougher, but they still sound great!

I have not heard that particular album but Pentangle were always great to listen to  8)

I have several of their albums on vinyl. I've never heard a group quite like them: folk, jazz, rock, even some classical and what we now call "world music," rolled up into one flavorful package.

I also have a couple of John Renbourn's group albums, but that's more like straightforward folk music.

Yes, agreed; they were quite unique with their presentation, content and overall sound.

Anita Carter - Sings Folk Songs Old And New (1963)
Mike Hurley - First Songs (1964)

the Mike Hurley is good and interesting, but the Anita Carter was sublime and nothing can follow it

St Vincent, Masseduction

Gave this a first spin this morning on the way to work, which I now realize isn't the best setting for a first listen to one of her albums. Will need to check this out another time.

More pop oriented and catchy than her normal fare, it's quite good.  Pills and the title track are probably the best songs, and the first five are all solid, and Fear the Future is very good, too.  Some of the songs are, if anything, too short.

I listened to this last night; knew about it months ago and was waiting for it to appear.  I knew she had felt that the songs on the original album didn't get the production or attention she thought they deserved.  This one is sure stronger, but still, I want to hear new songs from this writer.
