Top Haydn compositions . . .

Top Henze compositions . . .

Consider this in the light of harvesting listener feedback.

Which 5 Henning works do you think best of?

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Otomh, I remember I was very positively impressed by Out in the Sun and a choral work based on a Maronite Marianic hymn (if I'm not mistaken).
The golden mean, the truth, is no longer recognized or valued. To win applause one must write stuff so simple that a coachman might sing it, or so incomprehensible that it pleases simply because no sensible man can comprehend it. - Mozart

Which 5 Henning works do you think best of?

Best is always problematic, but I can list five favorites.

Viola Sonata
Symphony No.1 Op.143
Pachelbel's Loose Canon Op.133 No.1
De profundis, Op.78

Although still a work in progress, I have to include your ballet, White Nights.

Sarge
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."
                               --Charles Bukowski, "Mahler"
