For our spectralist and contemporary fans here, why not!

We will count cycles like Espaces Acoustiques in their individual parts to make things easier  :D

...........and..........go!

(I'm making it 6 because his catalogue is rather.......small in quantity compared to some 20th century composers.....)

Quatre chants
Les espaces acoustiques (ok fine, if I've gotta do only one part of it: Transitoires.......... and Partiels. Two parts. Fine.)
Le Temps et L'Écume
Vortex Temporum
Dérives?

Quatre chants

I reluctantly left it off, amazing work. What else can be said, it blows me away every time I hear it  :-*

Transitoires...

The big culmination of everything the cycle built up to, with some of the most dazzling, exuberant, otherworldly, eruptive moments contained that I've ever heard!  :o
The reprise of Partiels gives me goozebumps too  ???

Yep, it's a favorite. It's hard to decide between Transitories and Partiels, REALLY HARD!   :'(

Quatre Chants was a really easy first choice for me because it is probably one of my like...... top 10 or 15 pieces of music ever written, beautiful but also almost unbearably moving. I’ll never forget the first time I heard it (not live unfortunately). I’m so jaded and old by this point that there are very few pieces that have had that effect on me, let alone have that effect on me consistently with repeat listens (though not many of them).

The rest of Grisey’s music is also pretty good though. I keep wondering if there are any unrecorded works worth hearing.

(Oh and my no.6 would be Le noir de l’etoile. Always impressive though I’m not a real percussion fan otherwise.)
