I think that my biggest problem in terms of logic is that the Joker presents himself as an agent of chaos, yet all of his actions follow a carefully logically drawn out plan. :D

That's the damn problem with chaos: in order to make it work, you have to have a plan.

Also a problem with both Dark Knight and Batman Begins is that there is too much telling, not enough showing.  It's as if they have to externalize all of their thoughts, because we the audience are too stupid to figure it out from context. ::)

I didn't notice that. But then I prefer talk to action. You notice I just bought eight Eric Rohmer films: all talk, no action  ;D

Edit: Just noticed that Dave has also recommended Tous les matins du monde. I chose wisely  ;D

You did, it's an excellent film.

Tous les Matins du Monde (1991) w/ Gérard Depardieu & Jean-Pierre Marielle, as Marian Marais & Saint Colombe, respectively - English subtitles - Jordi Savall the musical director on the film - we both watch the movie and enjoyed the scenery and of course the music - viol heaven!  :D

I did like the movie, though I would have liked to see Ste. Colombe smile ONCE in it. It's apparently hard to tell how much of the film is historically accurate, since little is known of the life of Ste. Colombe, even his first name, which is why he is often referred to as "Sieur." There is no sign of a "fils" in the film. Guillaume Depardieu, who played his father as a young man, was handsome (oh, and also a good actor). Unfortunately he died of pneumonia in 10/08, estranged from his father.  (It's amazing what info is on the Internet ;-)

Another Teaching Company DVD course: World Literature. Goes from Gilgamesh to Salman Rushdie and includes Eastern as well as Western literature. Professor is excellent. Wish I could ask questions, though.

"THE STRANGER", Orson Welles

I had never seen this movie, and, to be honest, I was not very impressed. Everything is too conventional, except for the inspired details regarding the clocks.
Even the actors - Welles included - disappointed me. The exception was Robinson, as a cold and not very ethical investigator.

Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii (Director's Cut)

It's rather impressive to watch the essential role that Nick Mason played in the group at the beginning of the seventies. For example,  some songs like "One of these days" (here retitled"One of these Days I'm Going to Cut You into Little Pieces") are almost unrecognizable.

Fortunatelly, it's possible to watch the original movie without the horrible additions of the director's cut.

An authentic masterpiece with Floyd saying goodbye to the psychedelia, the experimentation and the sixties.

I want to revisit this;  saw it once as part of a four-movie marathon back in the days of my misspent youth.

Sounds as if some directors oughtn't to be left free to direct ; )

Yes, Karl, at least when the movie is finished.

Although the director Adrian Maben was also the author of the original idea, the additions of the "director’s cut" should be carefully avoided.  :)

Buckaroo is instant win.
Is that Making Of doc worth the effort?

If we may judge by the fact that this is my second viewing of it, yes ; )

The story is fascinating, the visuals I find of keen interest . . . and while the running time is probably longer than the feature itself, I don't feel the time going at all dully.

Sin City - Either the plot was impossible to follow or their was no plot. However, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson made up for much of the movie's shortcomings.  :-*

There were three or four distinct comic-book storylines, one of which serves (split up) as bookends.  Is any of the stories aught to write home about? Tune in next week . . . .

This much I figured out. I just wasn't sure if a separate plot held them all together.

Ha, ha, I'm roughly at the same point! (But for me this is still the first viewing.)
