... or so it appears:

Brilliant Classics - Complete Beethoven

The link (to an eBay seller's description) includes a full track listing. And yes, it is worth scrolling/reading all the way through. ;)

Norbeone

Some good performers and conductors in there. I didn't think it would take 100 CDs for Beethoven.   :o

It takes 85 discs. The other 15 are of historical recordings. ;)

I assume they're all public domain in Europe.

Of course, the box sets may be illegal in the US as a result. ;)

I'm sure MDT (and others) will be happy to make a killing shipping to the US like they do with Naxos Historical. ;)

This a set which interests you, George?

Well, the Gulda PCs, Guarneri SQs and the Historical stuff looks nice! I already have some of the other stuff though.

All of LvB fits onto 87 disks ......

Perhaps some of the performances in this set are a bit quicker with tempi. ;D

Mark I am speechless, I do not know what to say.... It took me 3 months well actually 6 months if you count all the hard work and effort researching performances and prices to put together my Beethoven collection (which I might add is only 85% complete) and here is this COMPLETE set with very good performances at a fraction of the price of what I already paid, its a cruel world I tell you!!!

So can I safely assume that, while not being the 'ideal' way to acquire the maestro's complete output, this set is nonetheless a good bet?

Excellent. It's now being 'watched' on Amazon for a price fall. ;)

Perhaps someone can chime in on the merits of the vocal performances in this set?

Terrific! My wife has just told me to order the set (which I've done) and she'll pay for it and make it my Christmas present. Hurrah! :D
