I've posted a whole bunch of new stuff here (lots of little known stuff by Lessel, Rozycki, Stojowski, Janiewicz, Nowowiejski, Melcer, Paderewski) and here (Szymanowski's 3rd Symphony).

Also, some recent stuff I didn't have time to mention here:
a Szymanski piece (Trakl Songs)
a Mykietyn piece (Capriccio)

Cheers,
Maciek

And before I go on vacation tomorrow, another load of stuff:

14 new pieces on the Little-known Polish composers from 1945 on thread (pieces by Kotonski, Rudnik, Dobrowolski, Grudzien, Krupowicz, Zielinska, Sikorski, Krauze, and Mycielski).

And elsewhere:

A Lason piece.

A Knapik piece.

And a Bloch piece.

That's all for now!

Enjoy! 8)

Isn't that commercially available (on Testament, with the LSO, not the LPO) ? http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/album.jsp?album_id=29169  or is it another one?

I suppose that is a different one. Mine was recorded with the London Philharmonic (The LSO plays the Testament cd), and the recording date is 06/03/1953.

Well, the Testament recording is just fabulous (even more so the appended Tchaikovsky concerto). So I suppose this is really worth the duplication. How is the sound on that?

It's quite standard for a 1953 recording.

I have acquired a live radio recording of IDA
HAENDEL from 1953 playing under Sergiu Celibidache
and the London Philharmonic. The power, technique, energy and rhythm of Haendel in this recording are absolutely phenomenal. This performance has moved into my all time top ten of all violin recordings.

I listened to this last night, an amazing performance, full of passion and drive, making the Testament release totally obsolete  ::)

C. W. Henze

Vitalino Raddoppiato. Ciaccona per violino e orchestra da camera

Benjamin Smith, violin
Viena Symphony Orchestra - live recording

Manuel

Ok, this is a long time late, but big thanks for sending this...a really fine piece and with the musical conviction that Henze so often lacks.

I hope the Peter Sheppard Skaerved series of violin works on Naxos is going to include this piece.

More baroque violin from a modern view

Edison Denisov
Partita, pour violon et orchestre (after Bach's Partita BWV1004) (1981)

1. Allemande
2. Courante
3. Sarabande
4. Gigue
5. Chaconne

Orchestre de chambre de Toulouse
Alain Moglia, violinist and conductor

(I was about to upload this and discovered it is already available)

Konstantin Igumnov plays Tchaikovsky

Grand Sonata Op.37
The Seasons
Wiegenlied Op. 16

Download

Igumnov (1873-1949) taught Oborin, Yakov Flier and Maria Grinberg.

The sonata is a shocking live recording; a very personal view with all type of pianistic excesses I enjoy, alla antiqua.
