Not super-duper cheap but what I call a nice price are the MANY MDG recordings currently available at Daedalus Books - it's a label I esteem for its performances, selection, notes, packaging and (usually) engineering.  If you take their survey you can get 10% off.   https://www.daedalusbooks.com/searchresults.asp?keywords=mdg&Search=&txtMedia=&image1.x=0&image1.y=0

I don't know what possessed the players and the plublishers of this, but if you ever wondered what JS Bach's Goldberg Variations sounded like on an ensemble of 8 basoons and a contrabassoon, search no more !  It's right there for your listening pleasure:

Part of the MDG sale at Daedalus (JPC has it for 20€, and sound clips are available on their site). I'm not buying it, but my cart of goodies is steadily growing.

If that doesn't meet your fancy, André, consider this  ;):  Rameau's Nouvelles Suites "Perhaps to emphasize the music's novelty, Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764) grouped several of his harpsichord suites under the title Nouvelles Suites ("New Suites"); they sound newer still in these transcriptions by Raaf Hekkema, who has scored them for saxophone, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and bass clarinet. An eclectic Dutch ensemble, the Calefax Reed Quintet performs Rameau's best known piece La Poule as well as the suites La Rappel des Oiseaux, La Triomphante, and Les Boréades, adapted from his final opera. There's a pleasing hint of jazz in clarinetist Jelte Althuis's tone—and of course saxophones did not exist 250 years ago—but this creative, free-thinking group nonetheless captures the energy and intricacy of baroque music."

I ended-up spending $86 there, and it could easily have been more, but no, not the Suites.

I canceled my order. Daedalus is charging 39.40$ to ship 11 discs to Canada  ???

I'll miss the Foerster symphonies and John Cage piano discs, but they will come around eventually.

Thanks Harry! After my disappointment with that failed Daedalus order, I needed to compensate  ;).

I put 3 of them Claves discs in my cart.

Also to be noted at JPC: several issues from the Actes Sud label featuring the french PI group Les Siècles under François-Xavier Roth. Au menu: several orchestral chestnuts from the XIXth and early XXth, including what appears to be a newly discovered orchestral suite by Debussy. Les Siècles has created quite a stir on the french musical scene these past few years.

For those so inclined, the Dusapin piano Etudes are in the batch. Discs go for 5.99€.

Sorry dude, THAT is outrageous AND I am going to complain on your behalf.   (BTW, not to rub it in but to keynote shared interests, I ordered those same disks you mentioned!)

André - I called Daedalus (more like Icarus) and spoke to Ashley there.  She confirmed that your $39.40 figure would be the postage to Canada sent Priority International (which oddly is the only way they will send international shipments).  "They are a small company...blah, blah, blah..." Though she said she would pass along my complaint to the 'man,' what it all comes down to is this:  they really don't care about doing international business.  I am so sorry about this.

Ah, I see ! Well, thanks for the effort, I REALLY appreciate ! Well, it's too bad. I was salivating already, as these MDG discs were so enticing: Widor trios, Foerster symphonies, Cage piano music, Pettersson chamber music, Litaize mass, Ravel complete piano music, Scheidt, Hindemith, etc  :-[

Probably not going to get cheaper than this:

https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/Stanislaw-Skrowaczewski-The-Complete-OehmsClassics-Recordings/hnum/2998593

Thanks a lot, I literally have none of those recordings, and the samples on JPC sound really good and lively, so I ordered it.

Also Kabalevsky´s 3 piano sonatas in an engaged recording (0.99), vintage Fricsay in some Bartok (1.99), Markevitch/Vishnevskaya in Mussorgsky (The Pictures ... sound terrific and the orchestral songs fine too) (1.99).

I was very disappointed when Andrea Gabrieli's box came out, 2 years ago, 6 CD'S in all, on Brilliant. It went straight in my refusal bin, after 3 attempts to listen to it.
Now they have release his nephew's music, Giovanni Gabrieli on 3 CD'S, his complete keyboard works for Organ and Harpsichord. Roberto Loreggian does again the honours.
I am not inclined to buy it, although I like the music very much. If anyone does I would like to hear what it is this time.

For the sake of precision Giovanni was Andrea's nephew (and pupil), not brother  ;). You can also hear the one-generation difference in their music pretty well.

You are right of course. Thank you for correcting this error on my part.
