I don’t know what’s in it (rice?) but I confirm it melts in 1-2 seconds: I just tried it.

I think it is based on corn starch. A great sustainable alternative to styrofoam. Go JPC!

For those who enjoy J S Bach played on the harpsichord I would suggest the following box set is a first rate bargain - especially for those in the UK as MDT are currently delivering FOC.

J.S. Bach: French Suites, English Suites & Toccatas - Blandine Rannou

I like the sound of reviews of this - her freely-improvisatory Gallic style, showing debt to/influence of Couperin.  Daughter of Scott Ross, perhaps?

Amazon UK has the giant DG/Decca Verdi box for 92 pounds.  Elsewhere (on the same site!) it lists for 212 pounds, so a bit odd.  If you need all the Verdi, it's about 75 disks, top conductors and performers. I linked from England, but it gives the US one:

[actually, weird things happen when you try to order it from UK-- Vat drops off, and it ends up being $111 including shipping--at least to me here in Taiwan]

I've just noticed on eBay UK, ending in 4 hours, the 50-CD Liège Philharmonic box, with currently only 1 bid on it for £1.99.  Huge bargain if it goes for only a few GBPs:

Winning bid: 42£. The way I see it, it will be hard to get. It’s a commemorative box, not the kind of stuff that calls for a reissue. Maybe we can hope for an update in 2020, for the 60th anniversary? The Liège orchestra continues to record, so there might be 60 discs ! Time to start petitioning the Cyprès label, the current owner of these recordings.

Definitely a lot of small niche repertoire - I wish we had more of an effort by the main labels to put out such compilations. Chandos would be a great source!

All of the contents have been available on commercial records previously, but on small labels not widely distributed. The Tournemire symphonies, lots of Lekeu and Joseph Jongen, in particular. No Mahler, Beethoven, Bruckner, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, no russian repertoire, IOW very little duplication with any other compilation.

Which seems to be a rare phenomenon nowadays (unfortunately).....

Not me - if I'd wanted it I'd have kept VERY quiet.  Perhaps it was someone here who won it?  £42 is still cheap compared with what it sells for (or at least is priced at) elsewhere.

Yep. I was amazed by how much  of the music in that box I did not have in any recording.
