OK, I'll bite.

How do I proceed? I'd just prefer the cut and dried Facts, even down to the best numbers. I'm sure all the best renditions are on YT.

GO!

LOL- NO FAIR!!

I clicked on the Mackerras, and the first thing I hear is my FAVORITE JANACEK MELODY- the BigMelody at the climax of the Violin Concerto, so, errr, yea, you had me at GO!!

Oh, that is rich!

OK, then, first impressions are good, albeit 5 seconds! ;) I will continue...

People keep telling me to get this, so maybe you should too seeing that we are in a similar situation regarding Janacek operas.

Like I just found out, this literally starts off with the Greatest Janacek Melody from the Violin Concerto- which i guess is from here, so, duh, there ya go, hiding in plain sight all this time!

The opening prelude of The Makropulos Case is a miniature masterpiece all it’s own:

Well I think I am really becoming interested in Janacek lately. From the House of the Dead is amazing.
