I've found myself in an outlaw country/country-rock/folk/folk-rock kick lately (with a bit of Mozart on the side), so I'm filling out a few gaps in my collection.  Some books (and a device that will hopefully keep me from spending so much money on books) also managed to work their way in, despite my best efforts.

Somehow or another a couple of jazz albums snuck in.  I'll start there:

The Outlaws:

My Jennings collection needs some work, so it seemed a logical place to start.  I picked up two of my favorite Jennings albums on LP to supplement my copies on CD (what can I say?  I'm a romantic!):

I then proceeded to replace my MP3 copies of a few of his late '70s works with CDs:

A few more outlaws:

Now onto the folkies/folk rockies:

I decided to fill out my Neil Young collection by replacing my worn out original CD copy of Harvest with the remaster, grab an acoustic live album I've never heard, and retrieve a Dylan album I sold a while back while I was at it:

My Townes van Zandt collection also needed a tune up, so I set about fixing that:

More folkies:

And to top it all off, a Rolling Stones recording that I unfortunately had to sell previously:

On to the books!

And, a Kindle Touch! :D (Not pictured, you all know what that looks like.)

I picked up some Portishead CDs yesterday, and was delighted to find I actually get more out of this music than I did 20 years ago. Especially with the live CD you realise how capable the musicians are, and how well crafted are the songs. Now I just need to get their self-titled second album to complete the set. (I haven't listened to Third yet.)

Their third is incredible! I don't think I've heard their second album.

I picked up the second last night. It's in the same style as the first album, but unlike that one, which is solidly hit after hit, it's patchy and sometimes has a sense they are repeating themselves.
I listened to a bit of the Third this morning - very different to their old stuff! So far very dirgey, making me miss the rhythmic inflections of their earlier stuff.
