Title: Crespin / Götterdämmerung
Post by: motoboy on November 11, 2017, 12:45:51 PM
I have fallen in love with Regina Crespin as Sieglinde and Brünnhilde in Die Walküre, but did she ever perform in Götterdämmerung? And if so, was it ever recorded?

Thanks a ton. I have searched, but found Nothung.

Discolog says she did sings in the recording of the Ring with Kirsten Flagstad and George London under Georg Solti

It seems that this historical recording can be purchased in the secondary market.  It says she sings Sieglinde, a Walkyrie role.  I dont know if she sings in the Gotterdamerung.

AFAIK the Walküre Brünnhilde was the only one she ever sang. She did appear in  Götterdämmerung at Bayreuth in 1961, but as the Third Norn. She also sang Sieglinde and Kundry that summer, her final Bayreuth appearances.

Thanks. It was a long shot. I always seem to pick the ones with short discographies, like Florence Kopleff.

From what I have read, Crespin had bad relations with EMI.  This is part of the reason why her discography isnt what it should be considering all her live performance.
