Title: Ernst Reijseger
Post by: XB-70 Valkyrie on October 20, 2017, 08:53:48 PM
Dutch composer and cellist (including five string cello), born in 1954. I first heard his music from the soundtrack to the Werner Herzog film Cave of Forgotten Dreams and was quite captivated. I have been listening to this again lately and enjoying it a great deal.

This one from the film features five string cello and organ. I love the choice of organ as accompanying instrument here--as much as I love (and play) the piano, I think the organ is sadly neglected by composers as an accompanying instrument.

This one with choir is also very interesting:

I also bought his CD Crystal Palace. All of the pieces on this disk are for unaccompanied cello, but I just cannot get into this one. It deserves another chance (when I get a chance).

Any fans of his music here?

That's funny! You started a thread for this same composer back in 2014:
