ArkivMusic seems to be having some sort of practical joke. (http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/Drilldown?name_id1=9222&name_role1=2&bcorder=2&name_id=11958&name_role=1) The listing for track 1, Tchaikovsky's Voyevoda Overture, mentions Pavarotti as the kazoo player.
Please tell me I'm not going insane.

:o CD Universe as well. (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7361903/a/Tchaikovsky:+Orchestral+Operas+Excerpts+%2F+Svetlanov,+et+al.htm) Those nutty on-line reatailers!
I live about five minutes from a library that has a complete Tchaikovsky edition, including orchestra and vocal scores to all the operas. I'm tempted to see whether the
Voyevoda even calls for a kazoo. It's no much worse than accordion, after all. ;D
I'm really not qualified to respond to the sanity issue.
