I've been sketching a serial piece, hope you can judge whether it's worth the great pains of revising or not.

Instrumentation is:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb,
Horn, Trumpet, Trombone,
Harp, Celesta,
Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass.
Richannes Wrahms?????? Is it really you???? :O
Nice piece btw. The orchestration sounds very well considered.
(It is really me)
Wrote a thing for cello, quite boring honestly.
I'm working on adding a viola and a violin part to make a string trio out of it, it's turning much more interesting.
Here's the resulting Trio, sorry for the midi.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/string-trio
Will check it out.

I feel like there is something interesting in there but it's just not suited to the sounds you're using. I would be happy to take a look at rendering this piece, all I need is the individual MIDI tracks for each instrument and some notes (with times) regarding tempo and dynamic changes, articulations etc.

Should work very nicely with actual players, well done!
I'm writing a quartet for flute, clarinet, horn and double bass. I think it's going to be from simple to complex. If you are curious, this is how the little thing is doing, it only has two sections by now. Hope a real hornist can also deal with the jumps!
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/quartet
Haven't really progressed with the aforementioned quartet much but I did composed a pretty little thing (Bagatelle being used just as a dismissive title) for string quartet entirely by ear.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/bagatelle-for-string-quartet-no2
Very nice, nothing to dismiss about it.
Another rather sketchy little thing I've written before I work into something more thorough.

Hi Uhor,
Your work has a very cinematic feel, most of the pieces could work well in film, by that I mean they seem to have a narrative. I like the unusual tonality, it's never jarring and unnecessarily aggressive.
Regards
Mark
I like this piece! What really works is the use of ever-changing density. No long, boring, serial solo cadenzas, rather harmonies melding into other harmonies. Well-done.
I wrote a little duet for Oboe and Viola, not really the best of me and quite rough in places but at least it's something finished.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/duo-for-oboe-and-viola
In these times I've been doing some exercises "in the style of Palestrina" (to greater and lesser success)
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/palestrina-excercises-1
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/palestrina-exercises-2
and a little sketch of a cello piece.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/cello-sketch
The cello sketch is excellent, I hope you flesh this out into something really interesting. What are your plans for it?
I used pitch multiplication to derive material from the initial row, I might use another row to keep expanding the piece or add a violin and make it a duo, whatever I end up doing I must keep in mind the different textural possibilities that would provide a clearer sense of form to the piece.
Hmm depends if you want a clear sense of form or not, though. Keeping options open regarding different textural possibilities sounds like a good thing.
I've expanded the sketch a bit but I'm not sure about it. I might have gone too chaotic in search of variety.
I consider it finished, with the possibility of recomposing it at a later date.

I think I finished another solo piece, if I leave dynamics to the performer. Please tell me what you think.

I've been trying my hand again at writing a string quartet, these are so far my attempts:
"Neoclassical"
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/string-quartet-sketch-11
"Feldmanesque"
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/string-quartet-sketch-0
It is a difficult task with the way I've set in things. Hopefully you'll listen, find something interesting and a lot to critique too.

I like these works! Especially when there is counterpoint and thicker textures. I don't hear much amplitude variance, which would help your sound, but that's probably a technical issue. It's nice when you go into a quieter passage. Keep at it!
Some nice harmonies in those quartets. Are you working with tone rows again?
For pitch I am using a system that multiplies fragments of tone rows with each other to produce a series of tones for each instrument.

I never really understood pitch multiplication. How does it work?
I do it this way:
You take two chords A and B,
AB is the result of building chord B on every tone of chord A
BA is the result of building chord A on every tone of chord B
usually repeated tones in the resulting sets are omitted but in these String Quartets I didn't omit them.
A "free style semi-tonal" string trio.

I re-wrote the second half of my "tonal" String Trio No.2 to make it more lively. Still may revise it in full a bit later.

Reworked the series into a rather sparse String Quartet.

Some nice harmonic moments here. It initially seems very episodic but once you hear it a few times it kind of has an archipelago feel—separate but not disparate islands.
Thank you!
I made a Wind Quintet based on another series. A bit rough in the end though.

I've been trying to create a personal set of counterpoint rules. This is one attempt.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/new-counterpoint-for-oboe-viola-and-cello
This also uses the basically same rules but sounds quite differently.

I've been writing little things lately, here's the intro to a quartet.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/quartet-introduction
Another tonal intro for a string quartet.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/unfolding
I've exapanded the work above somewhat, same link.
It's much fuller than last time. I think you need a major contrast of some kind at this point, harmonic and textural.
Thanks for listening, much appreciated advice though I may move on to another piece under different constraints like I usually do. Finding my voice and whatnot.
I started yet another string quartet in a new rather dissonant style, might be only computer playable. Tell me what you think.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/broken-glass
These are the counterpoint rules.
Melodically everything is allowed except the octave, the tritone and the outlining of triads.
Vertically:
A voice may enter on a soft dissonance.
No octave doubling is allowed.
Direct (and parallel) fifths are prohibited.
Soft dissonances are approached in contrary or oblique motion.
Hard dissonances only by oblique motion. (No parallel dissonances of the same type.)
No resolution required.
I've been hard at work with this, I think it is my best so far. I'd gladly recieve (more) criticisms so I can continue expanding it.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/concerto-for-6-musicians
So I've expanded it and written some more parts over it. As always, commentaries would be excelent.
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/chamber-concerto
I've been working on this for a while now. It's a flute, english horn, bass clarinet, cello and double bass quintet. Pending revision/expansion.

I think the best part is the winding-down staccato/pizzicato section at the end. It maintains a clearer direction than the rest of the piece and has an interesting texture.
Spoken like a true Webernite; that bit came out better than expected "like a hide and seek game" said my father. I quite like the flute above low clarinet, cello and bass section.
A little piece for recorder.

Something in a similar vein to that last work. Faster and a bit more complex, very tonal/French sound. It's for Flute, Alto Flute and Horn:

Fixed that there link.
Edit: I must admit this music doesn't make much sense to me, but perhaps it will in the full version, since this is the "beginning".
Than you.
The idea behind the piece is to grow increasingly rhythmically complex as it goes on. The next section is a more space one that grows dense into the most complex part and then "relaxes" into an adagio which while still more rhythmically varied, will be slow enough to be "understood".
'Complexification'
I rather liked that fwiw .. sounds crepuscular, post Berg-ian (?)
I don't think I'll finish 'Complexification' any time soon but in the meantime I did this:
Moderato for string quartet:

alto, yes? the score seems to say "contralto"
music for flute is never notated with leger lines below the staff ....
Nice piece.
Thanks Karl! In Spanish we call the alto "contralto" and the score is in concert pitch.

Got it! You'll want a transposed "score" for the player!
After some time trying, I've come up with a new set of ideas to play with, to be developed later.

I've been trying out diversifying my styles, the goal of which can be read in the "If you are a composer (...)" thread https://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php/topic,31120.0.html
In attempting to maintain motivic unity and variety but regain clarity, this rather diatonic image emerged which then I thought some of you might like.
