More interesting works by Braunfels. The Divertimento for radio orchestra and the Serenade for small orchestra are the highlights on this disc.

Quote from: Roasted Swan on Today at 03:16:59 AMLucky the person who always remembers every piece of music they have ever heard - even ones that make quite an impression!  The thing I take from Kyjo's posts is how consistent his reaction is which to my mind reads that Vathek has made a powerful impression on him both times he encountered it with an "innocent" ear.

It could be, but it's somewhat curious how emphatic the first reaction was so that he then says he listened to it for the first time. Looks like he suffered from amnesia.  :D

Oh, I'm not saying I won't give it a fresh hearing. I've got "the Hobbit's" recording, I'm pretty sure.

When I was waiting so long for my Grooves order, I ended up just streaming the recordings anyway.

I remember back in the day I would place a BRO order, and when it finally arrived I would have forgotten what I ordered and it would be like a surprise present as I opened the box. :D

Composing and Performing / Re: Henning's Headquarters
Last post by Karl Henning - Today at 01:30:48 PM
Quote from: Karl Henning on Today at 07:46:52 AMThe band:
Peter H. Bloom, Carol Epple, Dan Zupan & Dave Zox. Peter & Carol have been core members for an age, so at the very least they haven't tired of playing my music. Dan and Dave are new recruits, and they're enthusiasm for the music has been highly gratifying.
Coming in November:

Nostalgia Trips

Down Along the Canal to Minerva Road
Jazz for Nostalgic Squirrels
Music for the Un-Hip Hop
A new piece by Pam Marshall

And I'm toying with the idea of writing a short piece, Nostalgia Ain't What It Used to Be

Quote from: Harry on Today at 12:13:06 AMFrançois Dufaut.
Pieces de Luth and Manuscrits.
Hopkinson Smith plays on a Pietro Railich Lute, Venise, 1644.
See back cover for more details.

Another pearl in the crown of Smith, a master Lute player of yore, and one of the best that graced our earth. Recording and performance are without blemish.

It is very beautiful music. I've been listening to Dufaut ever since I saw your post this morning - Sigrun Richter, not Hopkinson Smith, for no reason other than that she was at the top of the list when I searched for recordings.

Cool!  I haven't heard that recording before!  What can you tell me about it?
