Title: Ronnie Segev, other pianists?
Post by: martinj56 on June 18, 2007, 06:05:25 PM
I'm new to classical music but I especially like classical piano. The only concert pianist I know of is Ronnie Segev (http://ronniesegev.com/) because he has performed in the NYC area. Could you recommend other good pianists that have recordings out or who perform in NYC? Thanks!

there are tons upon tons of good pianists, and a lot of them have been discussed thoroughout the forum. You may do some search with keywords such as Richter, Friedman, Rubinstein, Horowitz, Fischer (you'll have both that way), Gieseking, Gilels for starters.

As for concerts in NYC area, you may be well advised to checkout the music venues' websites to see who will be performing in the coming weeks or months. A lot of great pianists play in this city of course, the tickets are generally hefty but then there are those other venues, such as the smaller Carnegie hall where you may hear the up and coming pianists perform regularly.

You are in luck!  In July, Mannes College is hosting its annual International Keyboard Institute & Festival, and there are tons of pianists performing.

Here is the website with more information. (http://www.ikif.org/)
