Title: 97 Classical music LPs to sell dating as far back as the 1950's
Post by: victoriamumofthree on June 01, 2011, 04:27:27 AM
 Hello,
Firstly, as lovely a sound as classical music is, it's just not my 'thing'  ;D Hence the reason for me wanting to sell on 97 LPs Ive been given (by family)
Ive done a little research re: their value, however, I'm finding it a bit of a minefield!! Some I have found on various selling sites giving indications on their selling value. Their are a few of the Lps I cant find listed anywhere! :( for ex; Felix Mendelssohn - Bartholdy (who!!!) The Organ Music, Three Preludes & Fuges Op.37 (what???) Six Sonatas Op.65, played on an organ in Harnosand Cathedral by Hans Fagius (Phew!!! thats a long title) its a double album in excellent condition. Can anyone tell me anything about this album and its approx worth.
I also have one that sold on Ebay recently for $600. I dont want to sell them on Ebay, its a ghastly place  :( any ideas who might value them for me? best place to sell them?

Thank you,
Vicky

I would just pass the records on to someone who might appreciate them.

That's what I did with most of mine, keeping only a few for sentimental reasons.

I don't find ebay ghastly, it's probably the most practical way to sell.   You could also sell them to a used bookstore, some of them also sell LPs.

The thing about LPs is that they generally sell for 50 cents each, except for a few rare ones that could sell for hundreds.   The rare ones are often old ones, but they are not valuable unless the condition is good, which you may have no way to evaluate.  Also, the fanatics may consider one edition of a recording precious (probably the original) and another similar edition worthless.

So my comment is do not throw them away because there may be someone out there would would be delighted to have them, and if you don't have the patience for ebay find a used bookstore or charity shop.
