Gersheim, Friedrich (1839-1916) - Violin Sonatas w/ the performers on the cover; purchase prompted by an excellent review in Fanfare, reprinted HERE - 2 disc set - first just starting to spin!

Beethoven, LV (1770-1827) - Piano Concerto No.3 & Violin Concerto (piano version) w/ Olli Mustonen & Tapiola Sinfonietta; mainly purchased for the second work, which I've never heard before - excellent Allmusic Review HERE, and a rather insulting/dismissive review by Hurwitz HERE - would be curious about comments from others who have heard this recording after reading those contrasting reviews?  :)

I agree with Hurwitz.  I probably enjoyed it about as much as Hurwitz too (who clearly enjoyed it despite his reservations and despite the fact that he found it ultimately boring.)

Fazil Say Sonata for Violin and Piano...a cool piece, kind of jazzy (in the Bernstein sense).
