I this thread I will post links to concert recordings, on a regular basis. And I promise to make sure everything I post here is legal.

Feel free to download and comment it.

Note: If you don't like the quality of what you download (either bad performers or low quality recording devices), just be sorry for the bandwith you wasted.

Do you have any live Sinopoli with the Staatskapelle Dresden? There is some stuff on Operashare, Mahler 4 and 5, Verdi Requiem which I already have but anything else would be highly welcome.

There is also a Thielemann Bruckner 7 form Vienna on Operashare as well as the live recording the DG recording of the Alpensinfonie was made from.

Thanks again, Manuel. You don't by chance work for a company that makes CD-R's, do you?  Grin

I'm affraid I don't. I upload regularly there (what I have and can be shared). And mosts links I post here at GMG come from OperaShare uploads. So if you are already a member there, you'll find nothing new in my posts. Sorry.  Cry

I can post requests for Sinopoli concerts there, though.

I just joined yesterday, so there may be a lot of stuff I missed that was posted a while ago. I don't know how long rapidshare keeps the links. Some interesting items I wanted were expired  Sad

I also posted a request for Sinopoli recordings, as well as for reposting the SD documentary described in post ##14531, but those requests didn't show up in the message list. Apparently, I am too dumb to use Operashare. I thought if you create a new topic and send it to the whole group, it would show up in the new messages list.
Also, if you read a message, it says on the right side who the poster is and there is a button that says email and opens a window which looks very much like you can email that person directly there. I did that in two cases but received no reply. Of course, it could simply be that these two people didn't want to reply, but that is rather rare in these specialized collector forums.
I think I must be doing something completely wrong.

I just joined yesterday, so there may be a lot of stuff I missed that was posted a while ago. I don't know how long rapidshare keeps the links.

After 45 days without a download, Rapidshare.com deletes the file if it was uploaded by a non-premium user (users who didn't subscribe and pay). For Premium users the files are kept forever (as long as they renew their subscription, of course).

OperaShare is heavily moderated. So every message you send to the group has to be approved first by mods, and then it's made available to the rest of the members. It may take a few hours.

In the past anyone was allowed to post requests, I think. But rules changed a month ago or so. And now for your to request to be published you need to have uploaded at least one file in the last 4 weeks. This was set this way because the group was full of members who only downloaded files, without sharing anything to others.

Also, if you read a message, it says on the right side who the poster is and there is a button that says email and opens a window which looks very much like you can email that person directly there. I did that in two cases but received no reply. Of course, it could simply be that these two people didn't want to reply, but that is rather rare in these specialized collector forums.

I think they didn't want to reply; or haven't read your emails yet. I have emailed a lot of members myself and received answers from many of them.

I'm about to post a recording of Walton's vc from the 1999 proms. And after that I can request the documentary you mentioned

Other thing to consider is that Rapishare worked first as rapidshare.de. A few months ago it changed to Rapidshare.com. And members were allowed to move their files and subscription to the new server. But some decided not to move all their files (I think it was like uploading them again); and just took a new subscription at Rapidshare.com. So many, many files who were marked as premium are expiring now at rapidshare.de.

Manuel Penella (Moreno)
(1880-1939)

EL GATO MONTÉS (The Wild Cat/Die Wildkatze)
Libretto by the composer
Premiere/UA: Teatro Principal Valencia, 23 February 1916

Juanillo (El gato montés): Justino Diaz
Rafael Ruiz: Placido Domingo
Father Antón: Carlos Chausson
Soleá: Veronica Villaroel
Frasquita: Suzanna Guzman
Loliya: Mabel Prelstein

Music Center Opera Los Angeles
Conductor: Miguel Roa

Los Angeles, January 1994

Good stereo, 160 kbs

Note: This is NOT the still in-print DGG-Recording. This is a live
recording directly taken from telecast (14 June 1995), with Justino
Diaz in the main role and a short introduction by Placido Domingo!

The music is more zarzuela than opera. The story is a mixture of La
fanciulla del West, Carmen, Tiefland…Two men fight for the same
woman…

Thanks for the tips. I figured out in the meantime that you have to upload first in order to be allowed to post requests. That's cool, after all it's Operashare not Operadownloadfreefileslikecrazybutnevershare.
I uploaded Beethoven 9 live with Sinopoli and the RAI orchestra.

In the forum search tool write "m_gigena".
You will find my posts. There're a few, but inconsistent.  Grin
