Sad news for Londoners. Following the recent closure of the ENO branch of the Music Discount Centre, it now appears that the Southbank Centre branch is also closing down. I loved popping in on the way home from work or having a quick browse before a concert.
How long before the branch in Foyles closes down? Is this the end of the road for MDC?
We've lost Borders and Virgin. Are we going to be left with HMV and Harold Moores?

Are our high streets going to be full of nothing but shops selling mobile phones, junk food and clothes?

Buying CDs online just isn't the same.

Oh no, that's terrible news :(   I guess the rush for downloaded music has pulled the rug from under them.  As an opera fan I've always preferred to have the actual disks, along with the full printed libretto and accompanying details about the performance (articles about the work, perfomer biographies etc).  Sadly that seems to be a dying tradition.  A sad farewell to the Coliseum MDC branch!
