Hello!

To whom it may concern:

If you own a recording of the Violin concerto en re by Leon Jongen you probably own the recording from the 12-CD-documentary-box "1951-2001: 50 years of Concours Reine Elisabeth". The box was released by the Belgian Cypres label and the recordings come from the archive of the competition (so one can think everything must be correct...). Here is what the box set looks like:

Some weeks ago I came across another recording of the piece on an old Alpha LP and was puzzled that the movement titles and the duration was completely different to the recording in the CD-set.
Therefore I contacted the guys at the Queen Elisabeth Competition and they were very helpful and solved the problem:

The recording in the CD-set is incomplete and contains just the 2nd and 3rd movement! So the first movement is missing!

So if you already own the CD-set and want a complete recording of the Leon Jongen violin concerto, you have to search for the LP with Lola Bobesco.
If you are going to buy this set: I told you so!  ;)

Just to let you know.
