I haven't been using iTunes for very long, but previously I have found it easy to add album cover art--just drag the image of the album cover (found somewhere on the web) to the square representing the album in the iTunes window (and I did not have an iTunes acct.). Yesterday (after having downloaded the latest iTunes update), I tried this and all other types of things, but no matter what I do, the album cover does not appear. It said somewhere (and I knew this before) that you need to have an iTunes acct. to access this feature--but previously I thought this was only to have it looked up automatically. Do you now have to have an iTunes acct. to even add album art manually?

I have no desire to get an iTunes acct. I don't want to give them my cc. info before I order anything, and really, they don't have anything I'm interested in. I prefer to spend my money on actual CDs, then rip them to .flac, then transcode them to MP-3 as needed! AND, I'd rather find the art on the web. iTunes doesn't have everything--and in the case of my LPs I've recorded onto CD, I have things that iTunes has never dreamed of!

So, how does one add album art manually to an iTunes folder? Is it still even possible without an iTunes acct?

I don't have an iTunes account, and I use another program to attach album art. Not all programs do it the same way, so if nothing shows up in iTunes I just drag and drop, which works for the most recent iTunes (8.0.2.20). You don't add the image to the folder, you drop it into the info window seen below. Also, if you look at the picture below in the main window where it says "Artwork" there's a triangle pointing to the left. If its pointing down the artwork is hidden. Click on it and the art will appear.

Thanks, man! I went back and just right-clicked on the album and it said, "Are you sure you want to edit multiple items". I said yes, and just dragged the album art to the little box that said "album art"

Probably my favorite feature on my iTouch is the option that lets you flip through all your albums (or whatever you want to call them) and see the cover art. It is especially nice given the size and clarity of the screen
