Qobuz has label search.

Sure you are right, but my info comes through Roon, and this software does not give a label search, alas. And if I cannot find it :(
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

If you enter Hyperion in the search box, you may also select the label at the bottom.

If I do that with Roon it only gives me the recordings by Hyperion I already selected, meaning the ones that are in my Library.

Quote from: Madiel on August 01, 2023, 07:17:38 AMI can't imagine many situations where I'd want to search by label, other than right now!
I could think of one:  when a merchant has a sale on a certain label.  Could help one sample various albums and aid in deciding whether or not one "needed" to purchase a certain album or not.  :)

Quote from: SonicMan46 on July 30, 2023, 01:32:59 PMAn interesting occurrence w/ a new Hyperion CD ordered from BRO - included in a small order was the CPE Bach recording below - when I played the disc, multiple transient 'glitches' occurred - this was a sealed CD and presumably new - however, on looking at the surface, the disc appeared to be a CD-R (bluish dyed appearance) - I wrote  BRO and was promptly contacted - they immediately wrote to Hyperion and after some email exchanges confirmed that the disc I received was a CD-R (part of the last exchanges quoted below) - just FYI - Dave :)

ADDENDUM: I've been ordering from BRO for 15+ years and this is one of the first times that an issue occurred, so I'll continue to place orders w/ them. NOW, maybe Hyperion should have offered me a 'free' MP3 or FLAC download since I have the jewel box and booklet - :)

I have iTunes set to import on auto-correct which I believe has helped in the past.  Just a thought.

Couldn't you do an online search at QB's website?  I don't know how you then instruct Roon to play the ones that you select through your system?

Quote from: DavidW on August 01, 2023, 06:01:28 AMIt looks like Hyperion's catalog including all labels (it is an umbrella for multiple labels) has around 3900 albums.  That means roughly 70 a week to release it all in a year.  I suspect though that they will release a few hundred every month until it is done.

...The remaining 2000 albums in the Hyperion catalogue will be made available to stream over the next nine months, with the second batch landing on 15th September and bundles of 100 titles being released at fortnightly intervals from that point onwards...

I greatly appreciate the actual detail (instead of my back of the envelope calculations)!

And welcome to the forum. :)

My mouth is watering at the thought of accessing a number of very good pianists, including the previously mentioned Hamelin and Hough. Some other pianistic gems include Philip Martin's traversal of the Gottschalk works and of course Graeme Johnson accompanying a whole variety of singers in Schubert Lieder. The one he made with Ann Murray is simply gorgeous playing and singing and their version of Nacht und Traum just leaves me almost in tears every time I hear it.

I don't have Qobuz at work but will look at what they have in the Hyperion catalogue when I get home.
Cheers

Yeah but then the merchant website brings that stuff together.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Is Roon decent for classical now? I gave it a try a couple of years ago and it was fantastic for pop music but unusable with classical. I did not have Qobuz at the time and was using the tags from my library. I watched the video where they said they were making an effort to make 2.0 better for classical.

Yes absolutely! I have no complaint whatsoever. Tis much more as decent now.

Sony are also pressing CD-Rs of in print titles:

People have also reported getting large Sony box sets that were CD-R.

When we bought our first house I was slowly moving stuff from my parents house to ours, going through a bunch of CD-Rs that I burned the failure rate on them was well north of 50%.

If you're on Qobuz's website, you just need to add the album/track/whatever to a playlist or "Favorites," and it will then show up in Qobuz, or at least that's how it used to work the last time I demoed Roon (maybe a year ago?).

BWV 1080

Can see Hyperion releases now on IDAGIO, currently listening to Stephen Hough's Chopin Nocturnes

Thank you very much for this Harry. I like the fact that you simply choose the CD and Hyperion then gives you a choice of streaming via Spotify/Apple/Tidal/etc.

Among those releases are some outstanding recordings, some of which I own. Volume 3 of the Schubert Song Edition features soprano Ann Murray and it features some superb Schubert Lieder renditions. In particular sample Viola, Die Zwerg and the best version I've ever heard of Nacht und Traume.

Still to come: Philip Martins Gottschalk survey, Marc-Andre Hamelin's own compositions based on Chopin Etudes,  and many others.
