"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Archaic Torso of Apollo

I can't really answer this question, because any CD that embarrasses me soon exits my collection.

But thinking back to the embarrassing CDs I've had at some time or other, 2 nominees come to mind:

1. a disc of Pat Boone singing heavy metal songs (In a Metal Mood it's called)

2. a disc by the schizophrenic rapper Wesley Willis, who used to prowl the streets of Chicago hawking his recordings
formerly VELIMIR (before that, Spitvalve)

About 5 years back I was introduced to him by a US friend who was visting me in London. I have never heard anything quite like the legendary Wesley Willis.

A well known scary disc that, my is a Celine Dion SACD that came with my SACD player when I bought it (and a time when the SACD selection was decidedly minimal).

Oh, I didn't doubted for a second it existed. But the mere idea of Pat Boone singing heavy metal makes me ROTFL.

Discs that came with your players.....discs you got rid of....discs that have obvious joke value....you guy just ain't playing the game. Those are hardly sources of embarrassment.

I mean, I ain't admitting anything either, but at least I ain't pretending to. :-)

Great idea for a thread!   >:D

First cassette I ever purchased with my own money - Miami Vice:  TV series soundtrack :-[

Dr. Dread

My wife has that on CD.  >:(

My most embarassing CD is probably my wife's so that doesn't count I guess. Hmm...

Brilliant! I have 'Music from the Man from Uncle' on LP.

I don't really get embarassed about music.   :-\

No contest.  I once didn't return my BMG Classical Club card soon enough, and got this.  I'm not sure why I kept it, but I did.

Great choice! This is a possible rival (not in my collection):

Haffner

They're all in my fiancee's collection: Christina A., Bon Jovi, Yngwie Malmsteen...you know, girly hair metal and pop/hop music. They never get played because I guess I commando the musical selections around here (she doesn't usually seem to mind).

Nope. Nothing to be embarassed about, great band. I love them. They certainly aren't hair metal, either, if that's what you meant.

I have three huge posters of Manowar, as well as Dio, Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath. Love them all, couldn't care less who doesn't.

nut-job

I should be embarrassed at not be embarrassed for having a Pink CD.
