Quote from: Kalevala on May 06, 2026, 08:08:12 PMI am delighted for you all.  Your kitten already looks to be at peace.  I pray that it all works out well for all of you.  I have faith that Fazi and CoCo will become fast friends.

K
Thank you. We just love her!  Yesterday we put her in her carrier and introduced her to Fazi. He hissed some, which we expected, but he didn't freak out. Today we will bundle her in a towel (a "purrito"!) so she doesn't flail her arms and legs) and present her to Fazi. Tomorrow, we will let them interact some.

I haven't heard of that way to introduce cats before.  Did your vet recommend it?  What about using a gate?

That's how we introduced Zeus, and it worked well. Today's "purrito" encounter was rather surprising: CoCo hissed at Fazi and he ran away!! We'll try again tomorrow.

The thought that ran through my brain, is that the kitten can't run away; it's basically a captive.

We'll have meet in the open tomorrow. Being wrapped in a blanket and held by my wife probably made her feel vulnerable.

That was basically what I was thinking.  I have faith that you all will work it out.

Best wishes,

They met face to face twice today. My wife held CoCo up to Fazi. He sniffed her for a minute or so, then started grooming her for a few seconds! No hissing from either of them! A few minutes ago Fazi was chilling on our bed, so I brought CoCo in and placed her a few inches away. He sniffed her all over and she sniffed him—still no hissing! Her tail fluffed up a bit, but this all very encouraging.

Perhaps rather than putting them close to each other, put them in a room and play with them with a wand toy and they'll be focused on that (and good for you in terms of moving around--as best as you can).  Then be present while they are in the same room.

I can try that, too. Fazi seems quite nonplussed by her, so I do want them to interact and hopefully start snuggling at some point.
