Nice, this will be on my most eagerly anticipated this year; Bychkov recorded one of the greatest performances of Mahler's Symphony 3.

Indeed. As Brian pointed out, this recording will begin a new cycle for the Pentatone label.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

Now this is exciting! I watched an HR-Sinfonieorchester livestream a few months ago where I heard Ms. Matiakh conduct a splendid Vers la voûte étoilée. I hope the Seven Stars Symphony is as good! It's been recorded a couple of times, but they're all long out of print; probably the best was James Judd and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (I think it was on Sony). It's practically impossible to find; I think Matiakh's will be a welcome addition to the Koechlin discography.

I've been unable to find a release date, and as of 8 April it's not on Ms. Matiakh's website. But as soon as I can find a place to buy it, you can bet I'll be pre-ordering!

So much great music, so little time...

Vers la voûte étoilée is a favorite of mine. The Seven Stars Symphony hasn't impressed me before, maybe with this recording it'll make me change my mind about the piece itself. And I mean, there already several recordings of it, why not to record the ones that haven't been brought to life in a recording and performance?

I'm hoping this will make the case for the piece, Cesar.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, classicalgeek. You bet I'll be all over this like white on rice. :)

Anytime someone records Koechlin, it's noteworthy! I'm actually hoping against hope that this well be the first of a complete survey of Koechlin's orchestral music, one that Heinz Holliger and his Stuttgart forces so promisingly began about 20 years ago, but never completed. :(

I'm genuinely excited for this! I only wish I knew the release date. Is it a couple weeks from now? A few months? I should mention that I get the weekly Naxos newsletter and there's been no mention of this disc (Naxos is the distributor for Capriccio in the U.S.) We shall see...

I can't find a release date either not even on Capriccio's website. All I see is it mentioned under 2022 releases.

Oh the irony of labeling Medtner of all people as avant-garde:laugh:

Looks like a most interesting release!

The new erato

Definitely one I will want to buy. Hope to see it appearing on presto soon.

It says the age was the age of avant-garde. Not that all the people were. They seem well aware that Medtner railed against what was happening in music of the time. The subtitle kind of gives you a clue.
