Just got word of this, to be released on Jan. 27, 2023 on Decca. Perhaps looking forward to the Britten Phaedra the most, only because I don't recall another recording of her in that piece.

Nice!! The third recording of this marvelous symphony in just the past few years, and on DG no less! Why no couplings, though, I wonder? The symphony is just over half an hour long...

From MDG:

Nice! I know the Octet and Fantasie for piano quintet and they are both strong works (as is the majority of Raff's chamber music, for that matter).

DG has started releasing a lot of stuff digital only; maybe this is like that?

A pity that they didn't record the 2nd Symphony. Looks like a download to me.

What future releases tickle your fancy?

I'll start.  :)

Some releases coming out in April and May, plus one due out this month:

Stephen Hough plays the Mendelssohn "Serious Variations", Beethoven's op. 111, and a selection of waltzes: Weber's "Invitation to the Dance," two Chopin waltzes, Liszt's Mephisto No 1, and the "Waltzing Matilda."

Steven Osborne tackles the complete preludes.

Naxos inaugurates a series of Bax music for piano and orchestra with the Symphonic Variations, featuring pianist Ashley Wass, conductor James Judd, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Also possibly anticipating the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra / Gustavo Dudamel recording of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony and the Francesca da Rimini.
Hi Brian,

A lot of your images I can't see.  Where are you getting them from as I'd like to see them?  Perhaps this might help:  I always check preview before posting.....but again, I'm not certain whether or not this would solve the problem.

PD

This could be like Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla's British music release, where the individual works were released prior to the complete disc.

I found that CD to be a great disappointment.

Love to see the volume one designation.

And I love to see the fortepiano designation

That is what is was written for. But if that is actually performed on a fortepiano, I'll eat my hat!  ;)

For the Emerson box, did they consider calling it the Morer Completerer Box? Looks like the Evgeny Kissin live disc should be the only new addition, but I did not get the previous version so I'm selfishly glad they are allowing me to correct that mistake.

From the internal DG correspondence I saw, the contenders were:

1.) The New Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon [the winner]

2.) Deluxe Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon

3.) Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon (For Real This Time)

4.) Super-Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon

5.) Introducing The Emerson String Quartet

PD, that post you quoted is 13 years old... Some links and images don't last for so long.
