Digital grand piano smells like Claudio Columbo.  ;D

I've seen this duo in concert -- admittedly playing different music (Bach and Shostakovich) but they were so good I may give this a shot despite not being at all interested in the music.

Muybridge is my favourite photographer; Finnissy my favourite composer.

Some Spanish Bach every day.

. . . this 18th century Aragonese Baroque instrument in Carinena (Aragon) testifies to the high standard of organ building at that time with some 800 Gothic pipes dating back to the year 1482. . . .

I've visited that church. It has a beautifully carved sandstone ceiling. I had no idea it housed a fine organ. It was silent when I was there and there were no concert announcements (I always watch for those when visiting a church in Europe).

Not on Qobuz yet. New name for me, can you recommend an album or two to start listening Finnissy?

Two highly contrasting things from different times in his life - Pious Anthems and Voluntaries is recent, English Country Tunes is from a while ago.

Thanks, it's on Qobuz, so I've got it too :)

The fully restored Colmar Ruckers, sounding wonderful. I think she's an excellent musician.

This is the sort of recording where streaming comes into its own. Do I really want to actually buy another recording with this mostly very familiar music? Probably no. But I'm very glad to have heard it.

(That being said, the Buxtehude sounds so very good here . . . )

It looks very attractive. At the home page of JPC the backside of the cover is displayed, and it seems that both my CD player and DVD player can handle it, so I'm going to order it together with her Bach CD. Thanks for the recommendation.

More if I think of them—the Pellegrini Quartet Nono/Beethoven probably being the singular Purchase of the Year™. It was a good year and I actually had money.

And nearly five years after she said it, this super rare recording has become available again

I enjoyed the d'Anglebert here a lot. I like the sober way in which she plays, and it is nice to hear the slightly twangy sound of the Colmar Ruckers which reminds me of Verlet's Louis Couperin.

I must say, I think the Buxtehude is drop dead gorgeous. The booklet says that the harpsichord is tuned by Rainer Sprung -  whatever he's done, he's done a wonderful job!

I think Glen Wilson said somewhere that Buxtehude is his favourite harpsichord composer - I can see why.

Will be released 11th of July. volume II.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.
