Note on the Antonio Jose sonata, from the performer (who wrote his own booklet essay):
"In this recording, the guitar arrangement is based on the original handwritten manuscript. The mere time spent on research and investigative work to locate the manuscripts and make this recording possible has been a challenge in itself. But it has been worth the effort, and hopefully, these works will take on a more prominent role among the guitar's standard repertoire in the future."

That looks interesting. I have Julian Bream's recording of the Jose Sonata, and in the booklet notes he states that the original version is nearly unplayable, so he had to thin out the textures. Technique has improved in the last 30+ years, so maybe the nearly unplayable is merely very difficult today.

Bernhard Lang's idea is to take snippets from each of the Chopin's etudes, often too small to be easily recognisable, and kind of repeat them with slight variations over and over and over again. Dean Vandewalle plays them with no nuance or colour - basically pounds them out.

The Dupont was released in March in fact - it's maybe the most valuable release of the year for me.

Next year marks a decade since Harnoncourt's passing, and it looks like reissues will be plentiful.

I wonder if the Prospect of Whitby overture is the first orchestral work written about a pub?

The Kremlin by Night seems to be an inaugural recording and I'm looking forward to it. I like how these Fuga Libera recordings include works that haven't seen the light of day yet as with Steinberg's Symphony No. 3 (hopefully they will record his Symphony No. 5 on Uzbek themes in the near future too).

The Martin CD also looks quite interesting.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

No! (well it might be the first but not the only one....).  On this recent disc;

Ivor Hodgson's Piano Quintet takes for each of its movement titles the name of a Derbyshire Inn/Pub.  Well he was a muso in the BBC PO for many years so what do you expect.....!! :)
