These French Baroque opera recordings keep coming... Considering it is very much a tiny niche market, it is getting crowded!

It's not an easy to read typeface at the small size, but it is 3 and 8.

O, Goodie it will be released on 16.1.2026, I surely hope they will also stream. This ensemble brings back memories.....
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Well, a collection of the ensemble's recordings from the last 30 years or more. Everything most worthwhile.

Oh yeah.

Pletnev's upcoming release comes in two different versions.  There is an all-analog version recorded using two microphones and analog tape for the LP, and an 11-microphone version for digital, both recorded simultaneously.  Per the end notes, the whole thing was recorded in one 4.5 hour session.  This is the first DG analog recording since 1980.

"With this program, Pierre Gallon imagines a night in music, between fantasies and poetic dreams of the English Renaissance. His keyboards – harpsichords, virginal and toy piano – sketch out a mosaic of night visions, crossed by fantastic and unexpected."

IMHO it's interesting but a bit too heterogeneous

Symphonic Addict

I wasn't expecting another cycle at all! To be released on 20 February 2026:

Interested in the other pieces too.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

A bit more FEBRUARY STUFF

Charlotte Sohy wrote the Great War symphony from 1914-17 as a response to the death of her personal friend Alberic Magnard. It was only performed for the first time in 2019. In three movements of 11' / 8' / 7' it's quite substantial. The Milhaud chamber symphony is only 4 minutes long.

"Armande de Polignac was one of an unprecedented number of female composers emerging at the beginning of the 20th century. With training from the likes of Gabriel Fauré and Vincent d'Indy, she was able to devote her life to music at the highest level of professionality."
