And I can't wait to know if Fischer 6th was included your comparison thread!
We may now be sure Fischer is the next great conductor we will have a full Mahler symphony cycle of in a few years. What great times these are for Mahler fans  ;D

Not in comparison, Fischer already a great conductor. His M1 will be a must-buy if it matches the quality of the other three.

IIRC, Fischer has been reported as saying he's not interested in doing a complete cycle.  The Eighth and I forget which other one he's doesn't plan on doing, for sure.

BTW, it's apparently not yet listed by AmazonUS, since the link comes up as 404 Document Not Found.

Pre-order at Amazon UK is £18.35 for 8 CDs. I might have to buy that.

Also due in August: Mahler 1 from Fischer/Budapest, and Brilliant is reissuing their Kuchar/Nielsen cycle.

Since I wanted the Martinon Debussy box from Brilliant, I probably will buy this one instead.

That Kuchar/Nielsen set is part of the 100 CD Brilliant Symphonies box that's been sitting on my shelf for several months now. One of these days I really will start going through it....

Where'd you find this info? I'm interested to find content listings for the various other reissues in the series...
(Thanks, by the way, that looks like a handy "hits collection", but the conductors' names really pique my interest.)

No problem, Brian. I went to the Prestoclassical website. Luckily, I'll probably be picking this one up as I don't own much Prokofiev on EMI and it'll be good to have Previn's first Nevsky.

Nice catch. I was thinking recently that I'd like an alternative to Ashkenazy's Cinderella and Slatkin's Ivan the Terrible, and Previn at this price and with these couplings seems like a bit of a no-brainer, really.
