New on Naxos!

I'm sure I'll pick up the Hindemith and Weinberg.  Why the Zelenka works aren't more popular is a mystery to me.

A new Nelsons release:
[asin]B009NEP3II[/asin]

:D :D Looks very exciting! Nelsons really is one of the most exciting, incredible conductors around in my opinion. Hoping to see him conduct this work in concert next year. :)

A new Nelsons recording is always good news.

Also, my eye was caught today by this:

This is a first recording of the complete incidental music to the op.11 Much Ado About Nothing and also, in my book,  one can never have too many recordings of the effervescent, marvelous Sinfonietta.

Yes! Nelsons is a good Shostakovich conductor. I hope he completes the symphony cycle.

Thanks for this info, trung224.

I will order that 3Cd-set with the cello suites and the sonatas for viola da gamba, just to have the sonatas played on cello piccolo and organ.

Looks pretty good. :) I'm very interested in Nelsons' recordings, especially since I listened to his outstanding Lohengrin at the last Bayreuth Festival.

There're some nice voices on that set. Piau is amazing in the Debussy (and so is Immerseel on his period Erard piano), and Lemieux I have in Handel and Brahms, which may or may not translate into good French but I'm betting it will.

Kruysen I don't know a whole lot about but the one Ravel song LP I have of his is quite good.

But Podger is well aware of Cooper, and has her martial arts / catfight pose ready if he tries anything   ;D

Actually, the image has been edited to conceal the fact that period instruments are being used. Very suspicious...

Noticed while browsing the JCP website last night (although I didn't click to find out the details) a listing for release on October 15 (in Germany, obviously)

Beethoven:  Complete String Quartets, Vol. 1
Belcea Quartet

So it looks like we have another cycle on the way....

Listen to the sound samples. Op 127 sounds like it's going to be one of my favorite performances (not that I've heard very many, compared to other GMGers).
