A couple more in addition to the giant haul I posted on the previous page.

Also, CPO is beginning a series of the orchestral works of Vladimir Jurowski. No, not THAT Vladimir Jurowski - but rather his grandfather, a composer active in the 1930s-70s in Soviet Russia. The conductor of the CPO albums will be Mikhail Jurowski, who is Vladimir Jurowski's son (and Vladimir Jurowski's father).

Is this Barenboim's 3rd or 4th set of Brahms PCs? Any good?

I wonder how the "late" Böhm 23 CD set will compare to the "Symphonies" 22 CD set - is there anything in the later that's not considered "late"? But I'd assume lots of overlap. Is this another case of Universal Italy (Symphonies) and Universal Germany/DG (I assume the "late" one comes from there?) not talking to each other, as was the case with Richter?

No overlap, if I rightly intuited from that rather unfortunate listing at that Romanian site (tempo markings for the tracks rather than titles of complete pieces). Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert are all later VPO (Dresden in case of Schubert 9th) recordings when compared with complete cycles in 'Symphonies' set. Full tracklisting for 'Late' box should be:

cd1 beethoven 9
cd2 beethoven overtures
cd3-cd4 beethoven missa solemnis
cd5 bruckner 7
cd6 bruckner 8
cd7 haydn 88, 89, 90
cd8 haydn 91, 92, sinfonia concertante
cd9 mozart 29, 35, maurerische trauermusik
cd10 mozart 38, 39
cd11 mozart 40, 41
cd12 mozart eine kleine nachtmusik, sinfonia concertante k297
cd13 mozart requiem
cd14 schumann 4, schubert 5
cd15 schubert 8, dvorak 9
cd16 schubert 9
cd17 strauss waltzes
cd18 strauss heldenleben
cd19 tchaikovsky 4
cd20 tchaikovsky 5
cd21 tchaikovsky 6
cd22-cd23 wagner overtures

I say, go for it. Böhm's late recordings are unique, esp the Beethoven 9th, Dvorak New World (yes!), Schumann 4, Schubert WP 8, Bruckner 7 and 8, and quite idiosyncratic Heldenleben and Tchaikovsky LSO. Not to speak of the late Mozart WP symphonies. Magnificent sound, best orchestra in the world, most intense 'central' interpretations around, etc.

If not the whole set at least the LvB 9, his last (I think) recording with Domingo on tenor.. Perhaps the longest 9 ever in timings, but splendorously glorious

"After having released boxed cd sets dedicated to former chief conductors Willem Mengelberg, Eduard van Beinum, Bernard Haitink and Riccardo Chailly (now only available as part of the RCO Live Radio Legacy, RCO 13006), the Anthology-series is now brought up to date with radio recordings featuring Mariss Jansons. After being chief conductor for eleven seasons, Jansons has resigned for health reasons. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's beloved sixth maestro will be succeeded by Daniele Gatti with effect from the 2016/2017 season .

This tribute to Mariss Jansons was compiled by Daniël Esser (former RCO cellist) and Lodewijk Collette (former head of RNW's Music Department), the very team that was responsible for all the previous Anthologies. Drawing on the wealth of recordings in the Dutch public broadcasting network archives ánd the archives of the BBC, Deutschlandradio and Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, this selection emphasizes the extraordinary relationship between Jansons and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. It mixes repertoire commonly associated with the maestro with unexpected treats, such as works by Gubaidulina, Varèse and Louis Andriessen. This CD set is an important supplement to the existing discography of Mariss Jansons and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Mariss Jansons Live, The Radio Recordings 1990-2014 is a limited edition: no more than 1500 copies are available.

Excellent repertoire, but 150,00 € is ridiculous for 13 CDs & 1 DVD.

Agreed! It is 99€ at Am.fr, but still a big chunk of change....  :'(

Btw, Karlo, it comes out to about $8/disk (from Am.fr). This is of course quite a bit for disks in a box set, but is very affordable compared to the single disk purchases here at GMG.  Viewed from such a perspective it is not a disgrace for RCO to charge 99€ for this box. How much did the average GMG member spend on their last 13 single release purchases? I can pretty much predict that it will be much more than 99 €......       0:)

PS! I think we are sometimes spoiled to pieces by the $1-2/disk prices in the recent large budget boxes.

Perhaps it supports RCO's existence as an orchestra and then it is a very good thing....   8)
