But do you think that if we kept up with this, there would too many threads?

Dundonnell

I take your point but,at present, we have a thread entitled "Orchestras in Berlin" which now covers Orchestras in Vienna as well. people who have looked at the thread once may not return and will miss your new info.

Alright, I'll have to save it, get more and combine it all later.  ;)

Following your example, I have extended the Principal Conductors/General Music Directors in Berlin back to the beginning of the 20th century where appropriate.

It is important to provide a health warning with these lists! It is not always easy-particularly with opera houses-to be able to correctly identify whether an individual conductor was the General Music Director of the Opera at a specific time or was rather a regular conductor of operas staged.

To be able to provide completely accurate information would take far more research (way beyond, for example,  the websites of the bodies concerned!)

Tiny corrections.

Deutsches Oper
Deutsche Oper

QuoteFounded 1912. Known as the Municipal Opera(Stadtische Oper) from 1925 until 1933.
(Staedtische Oper or Städtische Oper)

And the Tonkünstler Orchester isn't really in Vienna, but I suppose it's close enough.
I'm a little shocked to see that Christian Jaervi is already moving on after only five years. That's too bad... where is he going, anyway?
