In case when you're playing it in your head, you hit a wrong note.

that doesn't happen- it's more likely that the music will jump from one section to the next or speed up the last few notes of a bar to reach the next bar if it's more exciting

I've had my ipod for 3 years now, and although there were a few problems when I first got it (after about 6 months) I just left it for a week or two, and then started using it again and I haven't had a problem since! They don't react very well to long periods in trouser pockets I think. Better to have in an inside coat pocket, or a pocket that doesn't esdge it agaist your warm leg! By log periods, I mean a few hours listening....
