Patelson's Music Store is Closing

Guess by now you've heard the sad news that Patelson's is closing.  It will be missed.

My father spent hours there and my nephew when he visited New York.  The staff is so very helpful and knowledgeable even with those of us who are starting out.  Wish I could remember the name of the person who said "keep at it" when I was in an "I quit" mood.

The article in the New York Times suggested that the net is partly the reason for the store closing.  For me, nothing replaces going to Patelson's, looking through all the music, asking advice etc. - guess I'm old-fashioned.

Oh well, another venerable institution bites the dust.
