Brahms, Hungarian Dances

Liszt, Hungarian Rhapsodies

These were on a list. I know them and have a recording of each. But I have never, ever so much as heard one in the concert hall. Do the radio stations bombard people with them? BBCRadio 3 does not seem to, but it is not a commercial station.

My guess is their length is appropriate as filler-ups, just before the commercials.

It would take some balls to conduct all 21 Brahms dances in a concert. As encores they'd be great... I've also never heard any of them live.

The encore is almost an extinct animal in my experience. A shame as it was the opportunity for all kinds of short pieces to get exposure.

Mind you....Mahler two followed by Wolf Ferrari would be a bit of a shock.

I wasted time: and time wasted me.

As well as "Flash Gordon Conquers The Universe," with Buster Crabbe.
