I think it's quite healthy to refresh your ears by listening to other genres of music. 

So Dave, my last night in New Orleans a little over a week ago, I heard slide guitarist Jeremy Lyons & The Deltabilly Boys , i.e., Greg Schatz on doublebass and Paul Joseph Santopadre on drums.  (Lyons moved from New Orleans to Boston after Katrina, but makes the occasional trip back.)  Liked them so much I bought not one, but four of their CDs--all live performances including two taped at JazzFest in 2005 and 2006.

You would probably love these guys...just a Tuesday non-classical recommendation.

Most of my non-classical phases only last a day or two, now. Haven't had one in a while. It's been driving my friends and family crazy.
